5 Amazing Keto Gratin Ideas

Whether it’s for a cosy dinner at home or a summer picnic, a gratin is a perfect side dish to serve up alongside all the good stuff like chicken wings and steaks! Just take a look at these 5 Amazing Keto Gratin Ideas!

The main thing to remember if you’re making your own recipe is to use a low carb veg in order to keep it keto-friendly. Here’s a list of which vegetables are keto gratin approved 😀

✔ Zucchini

✔ Cauliflower

✔ Broccoli

✔ Brussel Sprouts

✔ Aubergine/eggplant

✔ Spinach

✔ Butternut Squash

✔ Turnip

Usually if you’re making a gratin you will be making it in a large quantity to serve at least 6. Whichever veg you choose, just weigh the veg out and find out the total carb count less fibre and write it down. The same applies for any other ingredients you add that has carbs and when the dish is baking you can tot it up and work out the carb count per serving. OR you can simply click on any of these links and cut out all the hard work 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

1. Keto Cauliflower Bake

It’s a classic but it’s a good one. This recipe from My Keto Kitchen is simple to make and a guaranteed winner! Creamy, cheesey and strewn with garlic, onion and bacon and only 3g of carbs per serving 😍 This gratin will go beautifully with pork, beef or chicken. A tip I would add is to add a pinch of nutmeg to the creamy sauce to really make it sing!

2. Baked Eggplant Gratin 🍆

Baked Eggplant Gratin

We call it Aubergine over here but whatever you choose to call it, I love the stuff. It is perhaps an acquired taste but once it is cooked right and seasoned well it is yummy! This gratin recipe from Joy Filled Eats is a simply and hearty keto dish which goes wonderfully with just about anything. Its 7g of carbs per serving and worth every bite!

3. Brussel Sprouts Gratin

Brussels Sprouts Gratin

If you like Brussels Sprouts and cheese and cream then you’re going to love this. I personally could exist solely on Brussels but neither Alan nor Beebee are happy with the eye burning farts left in their wake 🤣 Anyway, this recipe fro Sugar Free Mom  is 6g of carbs and requires nothing fancy such as liquid smoke. No kidding, I actually read that ‘ingredient’ on another BIG keto account 🤦‍♀️

4. Turnip Gratin

Keto Turnip Gratin

Love love love turnips! Mash them with butter, cream and white pepper for an absolute treat! This turnip gratin dish by the Diet Doctor is very similar to THE PIONEER WOMANS recipe but it is tweaked a bit to make it keto approved. The recipe makes 6 servings and is 6g carbs each!

5. Keto Tuna Mornay

Keto Tuna Mornay

Sound very fancy but is basically broccoli, tuna, creamy sauce and cheese baked into a delicious keto approved gratin. Alan hates Tuna so I never get to have it. I’m actually drooling here looking at this goodness 😮 This recipe from Have Butter Will Travel is my pick of the bunch because it’s the lowest in carbs veg meaning you get a bigger portion 🐽🐽🐽🐽🐽 The recipe makes 4 portions and each one is 7g of carbs!

The Best Part

Prepare any of these dishes on a Sunday night (unbaked and store in the fridge) and you will have yourself a tasty, ready made keto side in minutes!
