5 Delicious Keto Pie Recipes

With a simple and easy to bake Keto pie recipe you can make pies fun again without going over your daily carb macros! The basic recipe is totally versatile and can be made into a sweet or savoury recipe, depending on what you fancy.

Let’s face it, we all love the comforting taste of a pie, whether it’s sweet or savoury. In general, I haven’t had great success with making ‘pastry’ on keto. And yes, I am aware that it’s not actually pastry but still. Using different variations of low carb ingredients has yielded some questionable pastry cases for me, some too crumbly (thanks coconut flour), some too wet (too many eggs) and just some that weren’t very ‘pastry’ like! But finally, I have found a pastry that works perfectly as a pie crust and for all it’s yummy fillings 😃(see recipe below).

The big question that everyone has is ‘Can a Keto Pie really taste good?’ and the answer is yes. Once you get the sweet/savoury pastry right the filing and the pie will taste epic. Here are ‘5 Delicious Keto Pie Recipes’ which are all low carb, macro-friendly and totally gorgeous 😍All you have to do is make the crust, chill it and pick your favourite pie filling!

For the Pastry

  • 100g or 1 cup ground almonds/almond flour
  • 40g or tbsp of coconut flour
  • 1 tsp xanthan gum
  • 2 tbsp sweetener (i blended mine to make it powdered)
  • 1 egg
  • 1.5 tsp apple cider vinegar (you won’t taste this)
  • 115g or 1/2 cup of butter chilled
  • 55g cream cheese
  • Pinch of salt
  • Dash of vanilla

Omit the sweetener and vanilla if making the pastry savoury!

In a food processor or mixer with a dough attachment, mix the dry ingredients and pulse in the butter until it forms into small pea sized clumps. Then add in the liquid and form a dough ball. Flatten the dough out into cling film and chill for minimum 1 hour. Egg wash the pastry before baking and blind bake the pastry case on its own for 10 minutes at 175C or 350F. Then remove from the oven, add in your fillings and bake until cooked through!

1. Keto Fudge Pie

  • 4 ounces of 85% chocolate
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup of sweetener
  • 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt

Melt the chocolate and butter. Allow mixture to cool completely. Beat the eggs, and sweetener until the mixture is thick and pale yellow for about 3 minutes. Next, add the chocolate mixture to the egg mixture. On low-medium speed mix until until fully blended. Pour into prepared pie crust and bake for 25-30 minutes at 350F or 170C. 10 Slices at 5g carbs per slice!

 

2. Keto Taco Pie

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350F. Brown ground beef. Add taco seasoning and stir until combined, then reduce heat until cooked through. Spread beef in prepared pie crust.In a large bowl, combine eggs, cream, garlic, salt and pepper. Pour over pie crust. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and bake 30 minutes. 8 Servings with 4g carbs each!

 

3. Sausage, Cheese and onion Pie

  • 3 tablespoons butter plus enough to grease pie pan
  • 2 medium yellow onions cut in half and then sliced thinly
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup cream
  • 1 tablespoon thyme
  • 1 pound sausage
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 1/4 cup gruyere cheese
Heat oven to 350F or 175C. Melt butter in a large pan. Add onions and cook to caramelise for 20 minute. Allow cool. Meanwhile, break eggs into a medium bowl. Whisk in cream, thyme, salt and pepper to taste. Add onions. Cook Sausage on the pan. Add sausage and 3/4 cup of the cheese to egg and onion mixture. Pour mixture into pie crust. Top with remaining cheese. Bake at 350F or 170C for approximately 30 minutes. Centre should be set when done. Let cool 10-15 minutes before serving. 8 servings at 4g carbs each.

 

4. Spinach and Goats cheese Pie

  • 1 lb Frozen spinach (defrosted and squeezed to remove water)
  •  14 oz Creamy Goats cheese
  • 2 oz Mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 4 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 4 large Egg (beaten)
  • Salt and pepper
  • Pinch of nutmeg
Stir together all the filling ingredients, adding the eggs last. Transfer the filling into the pie crust. Bake for 30 minutes. 8 servings at 6g carbs each!

 

5. Keto Silk Chocolate Pie

  • 6 ounces (1 1/2 sticks) salted butter
  • 1 1/4 cups sweetener (blended to powder if using granules)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 4 oz or 110g 85% Chocolate
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Melt the chocolate, Beat the butter and sweetener on high till smooth. Add in the cooled chocolate, cream and vanilla and mix. Scrape the bowl down and add in one egg at a time with the mixer on high. Refrigerate for 40 minutes and then spread out into the pie crust. Top with sweetened whipped cream! 10 Slices and 3g carbs per slice.
