5 DIY Keto Seasonings

Add some colour and spice to your keto dishes with these ‘5 DIY Keto Seasonings’.

We all know that store bought most likely means not keto friendly, well especially here in Ireland it does 😫. When i’m cooking chilli beef or just plain old chicken I like to have something quick and tasty to add to it. These spice blends take seconds to make and can be used for so many things.

  • Spicy Mayonnaise- Curry, BBQ, Taco or Jerk, just add a tbsp to your regular mayo, a squirt of lemon and boom!
  • Soup spices- add to any soup for that aromatic taste.
  • Oven roasted veg seasoning- cauliflower baked in the oven with a sprinkle of jerk seasoning…anyone?

  • Keto Taco SeasoningThankfully you can get the same fiery and spicy taste from your own homemade low carb mix. Whether it’s taco Tuesday 🌮🌮 or a regular Thursday, this keto taco seasoning is perfect with ground beef or chicken. Simply mix all spices together and store in a little jar. I like to use 1 tsp of seasoning per person when i’m cooking.
  • 1 tablespoon ground chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1teaspoon sweetener

As with any store bought seasoning it is better to make your own. Not all of us has sugar free bbq sauces in our cupboards but the majority will have these everyday spices! It’s perfect rubbed on any meat or even lightly sprinkled over some parsnip fries! Just mix together and store in a jar.

  • 1/3 cup granulated sweetener
  • teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • teaspoon onion powder
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • teaspoon white pepper

This one is a must for desserts, soups, pies or coffee. Try and make my pumpkin spice latte for that sweet and spicy morning kick.  Place cream, butter instant coffee powder, boiling water and a teaspoon of spice mix in a blender and whizz. Enjoy your foamy, creamy PSL 🍂

  • 3 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • teaspoon ground ginger
  • teaspoon ground cloves
  • teaspoon ground allspice
  • teaspoon sweetener

4. DIY Keto Curry Seasoning

Try using this mild and aromatic spice blend as a rub on chicken legs or wings.

Keto Curry Seasoning

  • 2 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoon ground garam masala
  • 2 tablespoon turmeric
  • ½ tablespoon chilli flakes
  • ½ tablespoon fenugreek
  • ½ tablespoon ground ginger
  • tablespoon sea salt 

5. DIY Keto Jerk Seasoning

Use this rub on chicken for salads or to serve alongside some cauliflower rice. It’s sweet and spicy and has that Caribbean kick. Add it to soup with some coconut milk and butternut squash for a delicious fragrant meal!

  • tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 2 tablespoons cayenne powder 
  • teaspoon ground white pepper
  • teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch of sweetener
  • teaspoon chilli flakes
