5 Fourth of July Keto Cocktails

This weeks blog post is all about July 4th and some tasty Keto Cocktails to help celebrate in style! Not that any of you probably are aware or dare I say even care but the majority of my followers and website users are American and so that’s why I like to honour their holidays with recipes and stuff 🤩🇺🇸

I’m not American nor do I celebrate July 4th myself, but if I was I would definitely like to have some sugar-free cocktail options to throw together for a shindig or BBQ if needed. If you’re like me and don’t enjoy having to Google recipes and work out the carbs etc then this blog is perfect for you. Easy to read and make recipes with the carb count right there in front of you!

That’s where my list of 5 Fourth of July Keto Cocktails comes into play. The recipes are all sugar free, low carb and keto approved. Obviously keto and hangovers doesn’t go too well together but we’re all old enough now to know about moderation and all that bla bla bla 🤣🤣🤣

Keto Blueberry Mojito 

Keto Blueberry Mojito

1 cup fresh blueberries

3 to 4 tbsp powdered Swerve Sweetener (depending on how sweet you like it)

1/4 cup packed mint leaves

1 cup white rum

1/2 cup fresh lime juice

1/2 litre club soda

Blueberries and mint leaves for garnish

In a blender, combine blueberries and powdered sweetener. Blend to a thick puree. Transfer to a pitcher.
Tear mint leaves by hand and add to a pitcher that holds at least one litre. Crush with a muddler or the end of a wooden spoon to release the oils. Add blueberry puree, white rum, lime juice and soda and stir to combine.
Fill 4 highball or bucket glasses with crushed ice. Pour mojitos into glasses, garnish with blueberries and mint leaves and serve.

This one  from All day I dream about food would definitely be my pick of the bunch because I just love the combination of sweet and slightly tart (lime a lemon curd tart). I think this drink is actually called a Bramble in the UK and Ireland but maybe I’m just imagining that. Anyhoo, this is the perfect amount of fizz, sweet and alcohol to get the party started and keep it going. Keto approved!

Serves 4 and each serving is 6.75g of carbs! Recipe from All Day I dream about food.

 

Low Carb Moscow Mule

Low Carb Moscow Mule

For the Ginger Syrup:

1/2 cup thinly sliced, peeled ginger

2 cups water

1/3 cup granulated sugar substitute (I used Swerve)

For the Moscow Mule:

4 oz premium vodka

1 oz fresh lime juice

1 oz ginger syrup (recipe above)

8 oz diet ginger ale

fresh mint leaves to garnish

For the Ginger Syrup:

  1. Combine the ginger, water and sweetener in a small saucepan.
  2. Bring to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. Cool for 1 hour, then strain and store in a clean jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

For the Moscow Mules:

  1. Combine the vodka, lime juice, ginger syrup and ginger ale in a small pitcher. Stir well.
  2. Pour over ice and garnish with fresh mint. For a stronger mint flavor, muddle (smash) the mint leaves around in the bottom of the mug slightly before drinking.

So, in case you’re new to Moscow Mules like I was, they are traditionally made with vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer.  YUM. This keto approved version from I breathe I’m Hungry is made with vodka and is super refreshing and gingery. Each one is 1.5g of carbs and so is an excellent choice to have if you’re eating some BBQ nibbles too 😀

Strawberry Basil Bourbon Smash

3 strawberries, hulled and sliced

3 basil leaves

1 teaspoon powdered sweetener

2 ounces bourbon

1 ounce fresh lemon juice

pinch of ground black pepper

  1. Fill a large rocks glass with ice.
  2. Combine the strawberries, basil, erythritol, and bourbon in a cocktail shaker. Muddle until the strawberries and basil are crushed and have released their juices.
  3. Add the lemon juice and pepper, and fill the cocktail shaker with ice. Cap and shake.
  4. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker over top of the ice in the rocks glass.
  5. Garnish with a strawberry slice and a basil crown.

Serves 1 and is 6g of carbs! Recipe from Peace love and low carb.

 

Lemon Drop Fizz

Low Carb Lemon Drop Fizz

1 oz vodka 

1 oz lemon juice

1 tablespoon sweetener

lemon seltzer water to taste

1/4 lemon zest

  1. In a shaker cup add the juice, vodka, sweetener and zest. Mix well and pour over ice.

  2. Add seltzer water to fill the rest of the glass. Taste and adjust accordingly.

  3. If you don’t want the zest in your drink: either eliminate it OR mix the juice, zest and vodka ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to use. Then strain before finishing the cocktail with the sweetener and seltzer.

    Serves 1 and is 1.8g of carbs! Recipe from my life cookbook.com

    Raspberry Mimosa 

    Low Carb Raspberry Mimosa

1/4 cup fresh raspberries

4 oz brut, prosecco or dry champagne

oz raspberry tea, brewed

tbsp sugar free raspberry syrup

 

In a champagne glass or flute, add a few raspberries.

Brew your tea using twice the amount of bags and let cool in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Add the syrup or sweetener of your choice to the raspberry tea and mix well.

Pour in 2 oz of raspberry tea and then follow with 2 oz of champagne or prosecco.
